Export and restore your reports
Open a project's Settings, then Export and restore reports. Choose
Download project archive to save a .jsonl file containing the project's
reports and evidence. Single reports can also be downloaded from the report
viewer using Export.
The archive captures the report list and content fingerprints when the export starts. New uploads are excluded. If a captured report disappears or changes before it is read, the export is marked incomplete. An interrupted download is also incomplete, even if your browser saved a file. Restore checks the entire file's count and checksum before uploading anything. A checksum detects damage; it does not certify the reports' origin or correctness.
Exports include saved report IDs, original IDs, scenarios, checks, verdicts, traces, and evidence. They exclude account credentials, billing information, membership, and upload tokens. Report contents may still contain personal data you uploaded; protect downloaded files accordingly.
Restore into a project
- Open the destination project's Settings and create an upload token.
- Select the downloaded
.jsonlfile under Restore a project archive. - Enter that destination token and choose Restore reports.
Restoration adds reports to the destination; it does not delete existing reports, recreate the source account, or change billing. The destination's normal storage allowance applies. Identical reports are skipped. A conflicting report is rejected and the existing evidence is preserved.
Restoration uses the existing upload endpoint in batches of up to 21 reports, with payloads kept below the 5 MB request limit. If quota, connectivity, or a revoked token stops a restore, the page reports confirmed progress. The last request may have succeeded even when its response was lost. Retry the same file after resolving the problem; identical reports are not duplicated. A whole restore is not one atomic database transaction.
Limits and recovery
Exports support up to 10,000 saved reports per project and stream data instead of loading all reports into the browser at once. Restore also reads the file as a stream. Export requests are limited to three per account every five minutes. Large downloads still depend on connection speed and the hosting provider's execution deadline (currently up to five minutes). If an export is incomplete, download it again; do not treat a partial file as a backup.
Each report is ordinary TraceDojo report JSON. The project archive uses the
version tracedojo-project/1: a manifest line, report lines, and a completion
line with a chained SHA-256 checksum. Restore submits validated upload envelopes
using report-bundle/1. The published CLI does not yet accept an entire project
archive as one report file; use the dashboard restore flow for archives.
